Day 32: Baena to La Roda de Andalucía
We went down a dead end today.
Here is a photo of us looking hot, grumpy and sweaty.
And here is the drugs rehabilitaion centre that was down the 10km long dead end.
Oh and we were cycling in over 40 C today!

The Wilts and Glos Standard did a very flattering article on us, saying we were going to cycle from Cheltenham to Cape Town in 6 weeks... after half an hour's phone interview, Matt managed to get across the distance we were cycling (3000km), but they got slightly confused about the destination!
Our appearance in the Daily Mail is starting to pay off after all! We've had two responses from people who have seen our photo, phoned up the Mail and got our contact details so they could send us a cheque for WaterAid! Yipee!
We're now planning to try and get in the Glos Echo again, or maybe the Cotswold Journal, just before we set off saying people can keep track of our progress by following our blog...
Again if anyone can offer any advise pls get in touch.

Hello and thanks for visiting our blog.
~This June and July we're going to cycle from Cheltenham (England) to Morocco. ~It will take about 6 weeks to cover about 2500 miles, and we'll be completely unsupported and self-sufficient. We're going to camp and cook our own food, so our bikes will have the added weight of a tent, sleeping bags, camping stove, food and masses of water. ~We decided to raise money for WaterAid because of the amazing work they do in many developing countries around the world, and in Africa in particular. Limitless safe drinking water is something we westerners can take for granted, but millions of people make do with a meagre allowance of dirty, often diseased water. Currently 1.1 billion people are still without safe drinking water. ~When on our expedition, we will really have to think about where the next drink of water is coming from so that we can cover the miles every day - this aspect of long-distance cycling made us think of WaterAid. ~WaterAid is a fantastic charity, so please support us in any way you can. Donations can be made from our 'justgiving' page (see above). Anything you can donate will be hugely appreciated! Thanks a lot, Claire & Matt.
Why are we doing this?
Like most students we have a passion for travelling and like to spend our summer holidays seeing the world.
With the limitations of a student’s budget, increasing concerns about the environment with regards to aviation pollution, and with the desire to help others less fortunate than ourselves...
...we decided to spend our summer cycling from our home town to Morocco!

Claire - Cheltenham, GB
I'm currently an undergraduate studying biology at The University of St Andrews, along way from my home town Cheltenham. I'm addicted to sport, love running, swimming, ju jitsu, among others. Only took up cycling 7 months ago in september, and have been cycling pretty much daily since. I have become so attached to my bike (a complete bargain at £150) that I declared my car off the road in October. I cycle everywhere and haven't missed the car once.

I've loved cycling for ages, but only bought my first serious bike in October. Before that I had a BMX with only one gear for urban riding and borrowed my Dad's for longer distances.
I'm an Arabic student at Edinburgh Uni, and I love baking bread and learning languages and drinking cider & black.
Oh yes, and I'm completely addicted to the feeling of independence that you can only get from pedalling yourself long distances with all you need on your bicycle!
