The Beginning!

Its 11 o clock at night and we're setting off tomorrow!!!!!
Me and Claire have been manically thinking about things we have yet to do and probably will not do!
Oh well...
10 o clock from Cleeve Hill means a very early start because we're in Cold Aston right now.
SO: Claire has to drag me out of bed...
....then it's loading ourselves with mucho porridge...
....then loading up our bikes....
....then a cycle up to the top of Cleeve Hill... and then we can start!

We also have a lovely article in the RAC magazine (the RAC being our biggest sponsor), thanks RAC!

The Wilts and Glos Standard did a very flattering article on us, saying we were going to cycle from Cheltenham to Cape Town in 6 weeks... after half an hour's phone interview, Matt managed to get across the distance we were cycling (3000km), but they got slightly confused about the destination!

Our appearance in the Daily Mail is starting to pay off after all! We've had two responses from people who have seen our photo, phoned up the Mail and got our contact details so they could send us a cheque for WaterAid! Yipee!

We're now planning to try and get in the Glos Echo again, or maybe the Cotswold Journal, just before we set off saying people can keep track of our progress by following our blog...

~This June and July we're going to cycle from Cheltenham (England) to Morocco. ~It will take about 6 weeks to cover about 2500 miles, and we'll be completely unsupported and self-sufficient. We're going to camp and cook our own food, so our bikes will have the added weight of a tent, sleeping bags, camping stove, food and masses of water. ~We decided to raise money for WaterAid because of the amazing work they do in many developing countries around the world, and in Africa in particular. Limitless safe drinking water is something we westerners can take for granted, but millions of people make do with a meagre allowance of dirty, often diseased water. Currently 1.1 billion people are still without safe drinking water. ~When on our expedition, we will really have to think about where the next drink of water is coming from so that we can cover the miles every day - this aspect of long-distance cycling made us think of WaterAid. ~WaterAid is a fantastic charity, so please support us in any way you can.
